It all started in 2001 when I decided I wanted to make some sort of wooden toy for my forthcoming grandson.
Prior to this I had made some items for our children at Christmas and also a few items for our home.
The first car I made for our grandson was very basic, a slice of wood with a hole for a window and four wheels. From there the cars became more like models or Range Rover Style, an early model Jaguar and a couple of Beetles.
Then my wife opened a Yarn shop and the story of Shawl Pins and Buttons started. I make both from a large variety of Hardwoods both Exotic and indigenous, over the years I have used about 30 different species.
Around this time I was asked if I could make version of a Yarn Holder and then the Yarn Pal was born. Since then both my Shawl Pins and Yarn Pals have appeared at most of the major Yarn Fests in the U.K.
